One design system to scale Greece's property platform.
The project
Housemaster.gr is one of Greece's real estate platforms, where people search more than 200,000 homes for sale and rent.
The product had grown fast, one feature at a time, and without a design system it couldn't keep scaling. I joined to give it the foundations it needed, then used them to rebuild the experiences that matter most.
What I did
- 01Design systemFoundations for type, colour, spacing and grid, and a documented library of components, from form fields and filters to listing cards.
- 02Internal dashboardsThe team's daily tools rebuilt around real tasks: clearer tables, filters, statuses and bulk actions.
- 03SearchFrom the location field and filters to the results list and map, so people narrow hundreds of thousands of homes to the few that fit.
- 04New main pageThe page first-time visitors land on, showing what Housemaster offers at a glance and leading straight to what they came for.

Scaling challenges
Every frustration the team raised went on a note, coloured by who raised it. Sorted, they showed exactly what a design system had to give them.

- Inconsistent components: three different blue buttons. which one?; the listing card looks different on every page; I redraw the same dropdown every sprint; which filter style is the right one?; spacing is a guess every time; no one knows which icons we use. Led to: Shared components.
- Slow delivery: every feature starts from zero; we rebuild the same form again and again; hand-off takes days; I ask for every state, every time; a small change touches ten screens; QA finds UI bugs we already fixed. Led to: Faster delivery.
- Design–code drift: Figma says one thing, the site another; the old pages never get updated; brand colours change page to page; no rules for errors and empty states; new pages ignore old patterns; the dashboards feel like another product. Led to: One source of truth.
- Difficult onboarding: where's the latest file?; no docs, just people who remember; which component do I use here?; every new hire reinvents the grid; accessibility is an afterthought; reviews go back and forth on basics. Led to: Documented patterns.
Outcome
Housemaster now runs on a scalable foundation instead of a patchwork of one-off screens.
